INTERVIEW with Anna Webber: Music Photographer

Oniracom Logo

Oniracom, a Santa Barbara based new media collective/record label, has interviewed yours truly, doing a pretty good job at getting inside the head of a music industry photographer :)

You’ll even get to see me in action, and read about what it’s like being a “rock music photographer” today.

It wound up on their Solutions for Dreamers blog. Check it out here!

Wednesday’s Rock for MS event was absolutely fabulous, frivolous. What a success, what a sight for sore eyes…

the night was stunning. Grouped together, I aligned myself in a room with the greats of the trade, old rockers still rockin, they auctioned off their world famous prints to benefit the MS cause. I went in support of two parties, my mentor Baron Wolman, and my brother James Webber, the enchanted wizard of rhythm. multiple sclerosis is quite the bastard nowadays, and I thank my mentors of Rolling Stone and others of rock n roll archiving history who donated their world-famous pieces to the cause. It was a great night, thanks again to everyone who came, gave, perused, played, and socialized.

Rock for MS is the major fundraising event for MSFriends, conceived under the leadership of VisionWorks Foundation president, Amelia Davis, and inspired by Jim Marshall, one of the world’s most renowned rock music photographers and winner in 2004 of a Lifetime Achievement Lucie Award.

More than ten years ago, Jim Marshall hired Amelia as his assistant knowing she had MS, and since then Jim has become a passionate advocate for the needs of people living with MS.

Through Jim’s influence, other well-known rock photographers such as Henry Diltz, Baron Wolman, Neal Preston, Michael Zagaris and others are now pitching in to donate their work for auction or sale. MSFriends has established a powerful, high profile presence in three of the most important music and photography centers in this country: San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.
